Impound and Fees

Impounding (Humane Confinement)

Henderson Animal Control is authorized to take up all animals found not to be restrained by their owners and impound such animals in the animal center. All such animals shall be confined in a humane manner. 

Agents of the animal control department will make reasonable efforts to notify the owners of animals found with current vaccination or other identifying tags. Images of impounded animals are posted to the Henderson Animal Center Facebook page. 

Impounded animals may be reclaimed by the owner, upon the payment of applicable fines, together with the following impoundment fees: 

• Impound $10.00 a day + rabies reclaim 1st Occurrence $25.00
• Impound $10.00 a day + rabies reclaim 2nd Occurrence $50.00
• Impound $10.00 a day + rabies reclaim 3rd Occurrence $75.00
• Impound $10.00 a day + rabies reclaim 4th Occurrence $100.00

Impound Increases by double each time after 4th occurrence.

• Rabies Testing $100.00
• Quarantine $200.00
• Microchip $10.00
• Surrender of animal from incorporated areas outside City per animal $10.00
• Yearly registration fee for dangerous dog breeds $50.00
• Return Check Fee $25.00

After the requirements of notice and retention periods have been met, any impounded animal that is unclaimed or unredeemed shall become the property of Henderson Animal Control.
