Licensing & Registration


  • Electricians
    Must have a license with the City to contract and perform work.
  • Plumbers
    Must carry a State Plumbing License within the State of Texas Plumbing Board.
  • Mechanical Contractors
    Required to carry a license with the State Board Air Conditioning Licensing Section.
  • Irrigators
    Required to carry a license with the Texas Board of Irrigators.
  • Building Contractors
    Not required to be licensed and bonded at this time.
  • Building Permits
    Any owner or authorized agent who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, connect or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system, the installation of which is regulated by city codes, or to cause any such work to be done, shall first make application to the Building Official and obtain the required permit.
  • Permit Applications
    The issuance of a permit within the City requires that certain criteria be met prior to receiving the permit. Where applicable the Inspection Department, Health Department, and Fire Department may inspect the project before a permit is issued, after each of the involved departments inspects the project and upon approval be them; a permit will be issued to the applicant.
  • Fees
    On buildings, structures, electrical, gas, mechanical and plumbing systems or alterations requiring a permit, a fee for each permit shall be paid as required in accordance with the schedule as established by the Building Inspection Department.
  • Building Inspections
    Construction or work for which a permit is required shall be subjected to inspection by the Building Official and such construction or work shall remain accessible and exposed for inspection purposes until approved. Buildings and Structures will not be occupied until final clearance is given.
