Boards & Commissions

Table with chairs

City of Henderson offers a number of ways for Citizens to become actively involved in government business. In addition to the opportunity citizens have to express their thoughts at City council meetings and public hearings, Henderson's citizens also may apply to serve on one of many boards, commissions and committees.

PROCESS OF CONSIDERATION

Board and commission members may recommend or refer individuals to a designated nominating committee, which takes responsibility for interviewing candidates for board vacancies. Nominees are required to go through a panel interview process:

 STATE OF TEXAS TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Members of a governmental body subject to the Open Meetings Act (OMA) are required to participate in education training sessions pursuant to section 551.005 of the Texas Government Code. The training requirement applies to all elected or appointed officials who participate in meetings subject to the OMA. However, it does not apply to public officials who do not conduct business in meetings subject to the OMA. For example, law enforcement officials, auditors, or county clerks are not required to complete training under the OMA.
