Detective Corporal

The City of Henderson is accepting applications for the position described below:

 

JOB TITLE:  Detective Corporal

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under the direction of the CID Lt., the Detective Corporal investigates criminal cases by finding and interviewing witnesses, victims, suspects, or informants; may conduct interviews or obtain information; work with other law enforcement officers, escort defendants to take polygraph test, testify in court, or locate witnesses; find and arrest suspects; prepare case reports and forms, narrative reports, arrest affidavits, subpoenas, search warrants; prepare records and testimony for Grand Jury or District Court; assist patrol officers; respond to police dispatch emergencies as needed.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:  

In order to be eligible to take the Detective Corporal’s exam, officers must have held the position of patrol officer or above for the Henderson Police Department for at least two continuous years at the time of testing, with no disciplinary action above the level of verbal counseling on record within twelve months of the testing date unless a Performance Improvement Plan is completed successfully at which time it is the prerogative of the Chief of Police as to the applicant’s eligibility. Applicants from outside the department for Detective Corporal must have a minimum of five years total in law enforcement at a law enforcement agency comparable to the Henderson Police Department.  If due to previous experience an officer already employed at HPD meets the criteria for external applicant, they will be eligible to test for Corporal. as long as the experience was acquired at a comparable agency to HPD. 

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES OR LICENSE: TCOLE Peace Officer Certification.

SALARY:  $71,668.87 per year plus benefits as well as clothing stipend, phone stipend, and take home care.
