- July Council Meeting – A regular, rescheduled, City Council meeting was held on July 25th, 2023 where emergency repairs to Central Fire Department were considered, proposed Volunteer Paid Time Off Policy, joint agreements with Rust County Elections Department, City of Henderson PACE Program and more.
- City Closures – City Hall and Facilities were closed July 4th, 2023 in observance of Independence Day.
- 4th of July Freedom Fest - The city of Henderson held their annual July 4th festival and firework show with immense success. The event was a collaborative effort requiring months of planning by City Staff, Sponsors, Vendors, Musicians and Fireworks Professionals.

- Performance Services are currently in the process of installing approximately 2,200 new water meters across the city.
- Construction has begun on the elevator installation at City hall and will continue in to 2024.
- GIS mapping is also constantly being updated throughout the city, while Public Services also lends a helping hand to the City of Overton with their utilities distribution and sewer collection system maintenance.
- Public Services has begun clearing land on the west side of Lake Forest Park for development.
- A new drop box was installed for after-hours utility billing

Fun in the SunHenderson Fire Department helped wrap up the summer with the Boy's and Girls Club of Rusk County by adding a fun new water system to their water day. HFD always enjoys opportunities where they can enrich the lives of children within the Community and create lasting memories.

A Solemn OathOn July 6th the Henderson Police Department sworn in their newest member, Detective Downey. All law enforcement officers, from patrol officers to the Police Chief, make a personal pledge to serve and protect their respective communities. This oath is uniform for all officers, guaranteeing that each and every one of them will uphold the same commitment as their colleagues.
