LEAD &
COPPER RULE MONITORING AND REPORTING VIOLATION
MANDATORY
LANGUAGE – TIER III
IMPORTANT
INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DRINKING WATER
The City of
Henderson has violated the monitoring and reporting requirements set by Texas
Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) in Chapter 30, Section 290,
Subchapter F. Even though these were not emergencies, as our customers, you
have the right to know what happened and what we are doing (or did) to correct
these situations.
We are required to
monitor your drinking water for specific contaminants on a regular basis.
Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not our drinking
water meets health standards. During the third quarter, we were unable to
collect samples from all 30 of our preapproved sample locations for lead and
copper, due to the vacancy of some of our sample locations. In an effort to
meet the state requirement for the number of required samples we were supposed
to collect, we collected from 10 alternate sites that weren’t pre-approved by
the state. Even though all 30 samples
were well within the required parameters set by TCEQ, because 10 were rejected
for not being from preapproved sites, we
are required to issue you this notice.
It should be noted
that all of the lead and copper samples collected were well within compliance
levels of lead and copper content.
What is being done?
We are updating our
monitoring plan to include 30 preapproved alternate sample locations. In addition, we will also be collecting 30
additional lead and copper samples in 2017.
Please share this
information with all other people who drink this water, especially those who
may not have received this notice directly (i.e. people in apartments, nursing
homes, schools, and business). You can do this by posting this notice in a
public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.
