BURL RICHARDS - PRESIDENT – Burl Richards is a 1985 graduate of West Rusk High School.  Immediately after graduating, he joined the United States Air Force in which he served 4 years.  During his enlistment Burl married Sabrina Richards, also a West Rusk graduate and they now have 2 sons; Tyler and Davis Richards.  After years of repairing and painting vehicles, Burl opened Burl’s Collision Center in Henderson, TX in 1997.  He employs 45 people from the Henderson and surrounding area.  Burl’s specializes in collision repair of automobiles including big trucks and RV’s.  He also has an industrial coatings business in Henderson.  Burl serves as the President of the Automobile Association of Texas (ABAT) which is an organization devoted to the advancement of the collision repair industry.  He is also a member of the Henderson’s Lions Club and supports numerous charities and events in the Rusk County area.


PAUL MORRIS - TREASURER – Paul Morris, Treasurer - Paul is Executive Vice President and Director of Texas Bank.  A native of Henderson, he graduated from Henderson High School in 1987. He attended Baylor University and earned a BBA degree in Finance in 1992.  Paul is active in the community and is a graduate of Leadership Henderson Class of 2007. He is also a member of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas Leadership Division.  Paul and his wife Melanie are members of the First Baptist Church of Henderson.  They have two children; Madeline age 19, and Adam age 17. 


JOE SORRELLS – Board Member
I moved to Henderson from Nashville TN in 1969 when Anderson Hickey Company located its manufacturing operation from Nashville to Henderson.  Then in 1989 I temporarily relocated back to West Tennessee to assist a struggling operation that turned into an 8 year stay, returning back to Henderson in early 1997.  Since arrival in Henderson in 1969 to currently, I have been active assisting and serving on the boards of most all nonprofit organizations in Rusk County.  My economic development experience consists of the final 25 years prior to retirement in mid 2001 seeking out and determining new plant locations and then assisting in their startup.  After retirement in 2002 to 2007 I served on the HEDCO Board.
I currently am an elected Rusk county official serving as Justice of the Peach, Pct. 5.  I am a member of the Henderson Lion’s Club and attend First Baptist church.  My wife Thelma and I live in Henderson.

SUE HENDERSON – GENERAL MANAGER of HEDCO.  Sue & her family moved to Henderson in 1988 from San Diego, CA.  She has been married 38 years to Bob Henderson (twice retired, U.S. Navy 22 years & Fiberglass Specialties 22 years).  They have a son and a daughter, and 3 grandsons, all of whom live in Henderson.

 Prior to moving to Henderson Sue worked at the Naval Supply Center where she was the 1st woman in the United States to break into a man’s world and hold the position of Government Inspector with the Supply Center.  She also worked for U.S. Congressman Jim Bates on waste, fraud & abuse in Government.

After moving to Henderson, Sue worked at the Rusk County Clerk’s Office running elections & election schools for both County Clerk Helen Sillick & Frank Hudson.  She also worked at the Chamber of Commerce and volunteered for a year for State Representative Chuck Hopson before accepting her position at HEDCO, where she has served since 2003. Sue was awarded the Economic Developer of the year award in 2004.
