The Henderson Police Department actively recruits minority applicants. To be considered for employment with Henderson Police Department as a sworn officer, you must have passed the TCOLE licensing test and/or be licensed as a peace officer in Texas. The pre-employment screening process also includes an extensive background investigation, a psychological screening, a polygraph examination, a drug screen, a physical agility test and physical exam, and a firearm qualification course.
All phases of the screening must be successfully completed to be eligible for employment as a sworn regular or reserve officer. Applications for paid positions are received when a position is open, reserve applications will be received anytime. The department's pay scale is competitive with area agencies.
