Animal Control Officer
The City of Henderson is accepting applications for the position described below:
JOB TITLE: Animal Control Officer
General Statement of Duties: This position is responsible for Animal Control and Animal Center duties. Duties include but are not limited to; of response to citizen calls in reference to stray, dangerous, or diseased or abused animals; removal of deceased animals from roadways; investigations and enforcement coordination concerning animal control ordinances and violations of State laws relating to animals; investigations of dog bites; issuance of citations and court appearances on behalf of the City; maintaining and care of the Henderson Animal Center office, kennels, animals, and, including training and direction of other Animal Center part time personnel and community service workers; general clerical office duties (answering phones and emails, interacting with the public, log keeping and processing intakes/outcomes); and euthanizing animals, once certified, along with the Lead ACO.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or its equivalent; Experience in animal control or veterinary technician work; experience in dealing with the public in a professional setting
Required Certificates of Licenses: Valid Texas driver license; Certification as an Animal Control Officer or the ability to gain that certification within six months; Certification to Euthanize or the ability to gain that certification upon employment.
